Event catering insurance which meets your demands and needs
This product meets the demands and needs of those who wish to insure their participation as a hot food vendor or caterer at an event for public liability and employers’ liability; event cancellation and abandonment or damage to event equipment.
You should read and check all insurance documents issued to you and ensure that you are aware of the cover, limits and other terms that apply to your specific circumstances
The ideal policies for those offering hot food at events
The food scene is booming in the UK.Food festivals and street food vendor locations are increasing in popularity; supper clubs and pop up restaurants are appearing everywhere with diverse cuisines and homemade artisan products; similarly local produce is coming to the forefront to make things more vibrant and exciting.
Food is an essential component of almost any event; whether it’s a village fete, music festival, trade show or even a party you’ll be sure to find a food stall, food cart or even an elaborate gazebo-style set-up serving delicious hot cuisines Not to mention of course, those events dedicated specifically to food & drink.
That’s why we have created two specific insurance policies for hot food traders.
Buy single or multiple event catering insurance
There are two options, one policy is designed to cover you for a single event; the other offers protection for multiple events over the course of a year with packages covering up to 15 events, up to 45 events or more upon request.
The single event policy will offer you cover for four consecutive days’ worth of insurance protection. Our multiple event policy provides cover for 3 consecutive days as standard. This can be extended easily, tailoring options to suit your needs.
Although you may feel your risk may be low, insurance is still an essential part of any event, including those who simply attend as a key service, supplier, or vendor.
Insurance for catering trailers and hot food stalls
Our Hot Food insurance policies offer public liability insurance for food stalls and detachable catering trailers**, starting at £1 million worth of cover but can cover up to £10 million if required.
We also offer the option to add employers’ liability to protect your staff and equipment cover for your appliances and stock if needed.
If your set-up also includes a seating area for your diners, this can be covered too within our policies
Please note the following:
* Food related claims (i.e. food poisoning) would be settled in an aggregate fashion; meaning any settlement figure would be divided between all those affected.
** This policy is not suitable to cover food vans or ice cream trucks. We can however cover vendors serving food from detachable trailers, carts and temporary structures like gazebos.
*** Our equipment cover can include food however, we would not cover for any wastage costs if food went un-eaten or was not stored or prepared correctly.
Hot food and Event Catering insurance FAQs
Do food vendors need insurance?
If you are attending an event as a hot food vendor it is a wise choice to have adequate insurance to cover you against public liability claims (costs or expenses incurred against you by a member of the public as a result of negligence). If you employ one or more people, employer’s liability insurance is a legal requirement for most events (to pay out against injury by anyone you employ including volunteers, helpers and staff). Finally, you may also benefit from equipment cover which can extend to the temporary structure of your hot food stall should anything get damaged or food if it goes missing or get stolen.
