Your Demands and Needs
If you are planning an art activity, it is your responsibility to provide a safe environment for attendees. Our Artists public liability insurance provides protection against any claims made by members of the public if they are injured during your art event. Common types of claims include:
- Spilling paint on a member of the public's clothes or possessions;
- Stepping back to view your drawing and damaging someone’s property behind you;
- Someone slipping on some paint and injuring themselves.
Similarly, if the venue in which you are hosting your activities is damaged as a result of your art event, this could again prove costly. Our public liability insurance protects you from incidents such as these, giving you peace of mind and allowing you to focus on the activity at hand.
What Does Public Liability Insurance For Artists Cover?
Our insurance will cover you for the following:
- Accidental injury to a member of the public
- Accidental death of a member of the public
- Accidental loss to third-party property
- Accidental damage to third-party property
If you’re an artist hosting an event, you may also wish to take out additional event insurance cover, such as:
- Employers’ liability insurance - if you have staff (paid or unpaid) helping out at your event, this will cover you if they suffer an injury whilst working for you under your supervision.
- Event equipment insurance - this cover will protect you for costs relating to accidental damage, theft or loss of equipment and stock which you hire or bring to an event that you’re legally responsible for (excludes venue fixtures or fittings).
- Event cancellation insurance - the last thing you want is for your art event to be cancelled, postponed or abandoned – our insurance will protect you against financial loss should this occur. Get in touch to find out more about this cover.
Public Liability Insurance for Artists FAQs
If you’re a painter, portrait artist or anyone who hosts art activities where members of the public are present, you should consider taking out public liability artist insurance. This will protect you from any injury or damage claims made against you. Having the right insurance in place gives a more professional impression and offers you peace of mind so you can concentrate on your artwork.
You are not legally obliged to take out insurance but choosing not to do so could leave you vulnerable to expensive legal action. Accidents can occur at any time and in order to protect your business or event, we would strongly recommend having insurance in place.
Public liability insurance has many benefits, including:
- If a claim is made against you, you’ll have financial protection;
- You’ll have peace of mind that should an accident occur, you won’t end up out of pocket;
- You can focus your attention on what really matters - your art.
